Introduction 

Conference Consultancy South Africa (ConfSA) was founded by Pieter Swart, CMP, CMM in 1998. His planning career started over 20 years ago in various high offices. He was an executive committee member of the first ever multi-lateral conference hosted in South Africa. Backed by more than a decade of experience, he established ConfSA as a macro event management firm, one of the most successful business tourism firms in South Africa. ConfSA is well established and recognised in the industry for excellence.

Conference Consultancy South Africa (Pty) Ltd (ConfSA) is a progressive and dynamic live event management company, steered by a team of highly skilled and experienced Business Events Strategists, thought leaders and innovators. We hold the only Certifications in Meeting Management (CMM) and Digital Event Strategist (DES) in Africa and have 3 Certified Meeting Professionals (CMPs). Recent local and international awards include Global Meetings Executive of the Year, 2015 by PCMA, Best Conference and Event Management Company in 2016 by SAACI and Top 40 Women in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) in 2016 by the Planner Magazine.

In addition to face-to-face engagement concepts, we are the first company to specialise in Hybrid Meetings as part of our digital events strategy to engage on-line audiences in live events and generate content for on-demand access.

Technology platform

ConfSA operates an advanced delegate administration software system that enables ConfSA to offer our clients the full range of secure cloud-based delegate/participant/guest administration and management services. The powerful reporting system keeps our clients informed of delegate registrations, accommodation and transfer bookings – all in real time.

Value proposition

We offer our clients a solid partnership on all aspects of event planning and management. We provide a macro event management services with skilled and experienced staff working on state-of-the-art event management systems. Our strategic processes and operational tool sets have been audited and found compliant with international best practice standards. We produce new events, we organise & co-ordinate events for existing clients, we consult on-behalf of clients and we offer competence development services. Our firm is client orientated, result driven and quality inspired.

Talented team

ConfSA currently employs three Certified Meeting Planners (CMP’s) who are supported by a core team of experienced and skilled specialists, support- and contracted staff who render planning, co-ordination, management and essential support services. Additional specialised staff is contracted on event project specific requirements. We also have access to more than 200 event management trainees whom we employ on a temporary basis for on-site support services such as registration, host/hostess, ushering and other general duties.

Declaration on commissions

As one of very few event management firms in South Africa that operates solely on a professional management fee structure. We commit ConfSA to serving our clients’ best interest – at all times. This transparent model significantly reduces the cost of hosting events and allows us to negotiate the best possible rates/fees from service providers. These include venues, accommodation establishments, audio visual suppliers and IT suppliers. An important aspect of this model of operation is that we ensure that all potential commission able income reverts back to the client budget either as a nett saving or supplementary income. ConfSA does NOT accept any form of commission from suppliers. We are entirely transparent on all aspects of our operations.

Accreditation’s

CMM – Certification in Meeting Management

The CMM programme deals with the business of meetings as well as business management modules related to meetings. This programme selects, educates, and certifies meeting and event professionals at management level and develops their strategic decision-making abilities to manage and deliver exceptional meetings and events. Two CMM programme classes are hosted annually: one in the USA and one in Europe. Each class accommodates 56 selected candidates. The programme content is updated continuously to match today’s evolving international business requirements.

Pieter Swart, CMP became the first person in Africa to attain CMM in 2010 and is the only CMM in South Africa

CMP – Certified Meeting Professional

Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) is the international benchmark qualification for a professional conference organiser (PCO). Pieter Swart CMP CMM, Danielle Henn CMP and Corné Engelbrecht CMP obtained this distinguished certification and by so doing became the first SAACI Accredited International PCO in Africa with the CMP designation. They were among the first 8 CMPs in Africa that obtained the certification in 2006. CMP is a trademark of the Convention Industry Council based in Washington DC, USA.

DES – Digital Event Strategist

Digital Event Strategist (DES) is and international certification from PCMA’s Digital Experience Institute this certification shows authority on planning, producing and measurement of Digital and Hybrid events.
Kyle Smith DES became the first person in Africa to achieve this certification. DES is a trademark of the DEI.
